Senior Research Director, Research Solutions & Analytics

The Senior Research Director, Research Solutions & Analytics enhances our value proposition by supporting the research initiatives of our sales and delivery teams to provide clients with best in class client solutions, with a focus on advanced statistical modeling techniques to convert data into actionable market insights and be able to communicate complex data or algorithms into simple conclusions.

We are looking for someone to:


Work in concert with the sales organization to expand current, and develop new relationships with clients by assisting with proposal development and the research design process
Develop credibility with key client stakeholders by participating in client calls and meetings; seen as an expert in marketing research and statistical methods such as discrete choice, segmentation, regression modeling, MaxDiff, TURF analysis, Van Westendorp, etc
Design, build and extract large and complex data sets while thinking strategically about uses of data and how data use interacts with data design
Use critical thinking and analytical skills to create models for client’s products or services
Identify relevant algorithms and processes for data-driven solutions; code those identified to produce actionable results
Design, coordinate and execute marketing research initiatives
Drive actionable results and insights from the data collected
Serve as a liaison with internal and external operations teams. 
Manage, mentor, and train junior level research managers


You are a fit if you are:

  • Have strong statistical background and experience with and statistical packages, such as SPSS, R, or SA

You bring these skills with you:


  • Passion for marketing research and technology to support 
    Technical expertise in experimental design, statistical modeling, such as discrete choice, segmentation, regression modeling, MaxDiff, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access) and statistical packages, such as R and SPSS or SAS
  • Strong listening, oral, and written communication skills – Able to understand, interpret, clarify and confirm the requests and needs of others
  • Experience delivering client demonstrations and presentations
    Ability to balance overall project goals with a multitude of logistics requirements and key milestones
    Familiarity working with costing models and managing the details of project specifications
    Experience managing client relationships to identify needs and to translate needs into action
  • 10+ years of writing and editing questionnaires, analyzing data, interpreting results, offering guidance and advice based on those results
  • BA/BS
  • MS Marketing/Market Research/Marketing Science

Responsibilities:

Client Service and Development Tasks

  • Works in concert with the sales organization to expand current, and develop new relationships with clients by assisting with proposal development and the research design process
  • Collaborates with the respective sales representatives to assure a coordinated effort with each account, where needed
  • Develops personal credibility with key client stakeholders by participating in client calls and meetings; seen as an expert in market research
    Drives actionable results and insights from the data collected

Project Tasks

  • ·       Manages all project tasks—research design, questionnaire design, fieldwork coordination, and interpretation of the data through reporting and analysis, to ensure successful and efficient project completion
  • ·       QC the translation of sampling specifications into sampling parameters within specific ad hoc and tracker projects
  • ·       Responsible for the accuracy, thoroughness, quality, and timeliness of projects
  • ·       Ensures that all internal team members understand the projects’ expected outcomes, and monitors the progress of each project at each stage to ensure successful completion
  • ·       Demonstrates mastery of project management skills
  • ·       Diplomatically responds to operational issues and able to coordinate appropriately for necessary resources
  • ·       Manages project costs to ensure that projects are delivered at or above expected profit levels, and notifies senior staff when issues arise
  • ·       Helps train junior staff on questionnaire development and data reporting
  • ·       Versed in all of Toluna’s offerings and operational processes
  • ·       Completes all calls and follow-up calls in a timely manner to assure maximum results are obtained
