Description

Data Analyst
Consultant

Our client is an analytics and data visualization company whose platforms help hundreds of clients and thousands of users discover, visualize, and share statistical insights. Working out of our beautifully-restored historic office in the greater Boston, MA area with remote members joining us from around the world, our team of very smart and engaged professionals is constantly innovating to improve our products, surface insights, and accelerate growth.

Position Summary:

Can you help our clients wrangle their data?

Our clients collect consumer insights data from a variety of platforms (e.g. Qualtrics, CMIX, Decipher, Confirmit, SurveyMonkey, internal systems, etc.), in a variety of formats (SPSS, Excel/CSV, database, etc.). They wish to analyze that consumer insights data using our platform. In order to facilitate that analysis, they need assistance loading their data into the platform in a structure/format that supports the analyses they wish to perform.

As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for helping clients to wrangle their data. Depending on the client and the specific project, this may mean restructuring data structures, recoding variable representations, merging disparate datasets, or otherwise manipulating data itself. It may mean writing scripts in Python or R which can automate this restructuring for downstream reuse. It may mean documenting instructions for client-side analysts to perform this restructuring work themselves, or to write API connectors between client systems and the platform.

Once data has been successfully loaded into the platform, you will then be responsible for performing a variety of statistical analyses using the platform to prepare content (tables, charts, etc.) which may subsequently be integrated into dashboards (dynamic data visualizations) or dashboard templates which the client will then either utilize or share with downstream consumers.

Position Competencies:

  • Deep understanding of data and statistical analysis on a theoretical, technical, and practical level.
  • Excellent communications both verbally, in writing, and via presentation. You'll need to be able to explain complex data analysis topics to clients who may not have technical or statistical skills.
  • Experience constructing Python or R scripts for data manipulation, with experience using tools like Pandas, Numpy, data.frame, etc.
  • Working with project management systems, particularly Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience producing reports from survey data.
  • Fluency in Powerpoint and other Microsoft Office solutions (Word, Excel, etc.).

Helpful:

  • Familiarity with enterprise software and technology concepts
  • Experience with data visualization platforms (Tableau, Dapresy, etc.).
  • Experience with survey collection platforms (Decipher, Confirmit, Cmix, Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, etc.).

Position Requirements:

  • 3 or more years of experience working with SPSS
  • 2 or more years of experience performing data analysis with either Python or R
  • 2 or more years of experience working with relational databases (MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift, etc.)
